(the guy who made MittenCE)
In 2026, I was looking for a therapist. During one of our sessions, I mentioned that I'm a software developer and asked if there were any problems in the profession that technology could help solve.
One issue came up immediately: continuing education.
My therapist told me many Michigan social workers feel stressed about CE requirements, audits, certificate tracking, and figuring out whether a course may satisfy a specific requirement.
The more I researched, the more surprised I became that this problem hadn't already been solved. There are CE trackers out there, but most felt too generic.
None seemed built specifically around Michigan requirements and workflows.
Questions kept coming up: what happens if you take a 6-hour ethics course but only need 5 hours? What happens if you pay hundreds of dollars for a course and later discover it may not satisfy the requirement you expected?
What happens if you're selected for an audit and have to gather years of certificates from emails, downloads, and folders?
That's why I started building MittenCE. My goal is simple: help Michigan mental health professionals spend less time worrying about continuing education records and more time focusing on their clients.
